1.
Assume the ZOOM
Have
players form a circle.
Players must get in the zoom position (leaning into the circle, one
foot in
front of the other, both hands on the front knee) - "assume the
zoom." Begin by passing the word "zoom" around the circle
(verbally). You can't "pass" the "zoom" until you've
received "it." Record the time it takes to get the word all the way
around the circle. Ask for suggestions on how to improve your time. Try
to beat
your previous time. Incorporate any reasonable suggestions.
2. Alphabet Letters
The object
of this game is
to get into groups of four players then form alphabet letters or words
that a
leader calls out.
3.
Animal Relay
Each
member of a team is
assigned a different animal. He must then move across the hall in the
style of
that animal.
Donkey - Traveling on all fours to
the goal and imitating the
donkey's bray.
Lame Dog - Walking on two hands
and one foot and barking..
Bear - Bent over standing on their
hands and feet, moves right
and
left foot together, and then left
hand and right foot
together..
Duck - Squatting down low, with
knees spread, arms stretched
out
with their hands clasped in front
of their legs below their
knees..
Crab - Back toward the floor,
supported on hands and feet, the
feet
facing forward..
Elephant - On hands and feet, with
legs and arms absolutely
rigid.
Frog - Feet spread with his knees
outside his hands, which are
together. Advancing by frog-like
jumps, landing on hands at
each
leap, then bringing the feet up..
4. Ankle Tag
In order
to prevent being
tagged, a player must have hold of a third player's ankle, who in turn
must
take hold of a third player's ankle, or attempt to get away.
5.
Bawl Game
Player who
makes the most
noise for a given period of time wins.
6.
Back to Back
Have
players start in groups
of two or three people. Have the pair (or trio) sit on the floor back
to back.
The players need to bend their knees and link elbows. On the count of
three
they try to stand up. It may take a few tries before the group is
successful!
Next have
the individual
groups combine to make a larger circle. Combine circles until you have
everyone
work together to stand at the same time.
7.
Back to Back Race
For this
race the players
must form pairs and stand back to back. They
then link
their arms
together at the elbows. On the word 'Go!' the
linked
players begin moving
towards the other side of the room. If the
arms
become unlinked then
the pair must return to the beginning.
8.
Be An Animal
The
instructor asks the
players to remember the sounds of different animals. The players must
pronounce
these sounds at the instructor’s command.
The instructor: "How wonderful it is to be a dog!
The players: "Woof, Woof!"
The instructor: " How wonderful it is to be a duck!"
The player: "Quack! Quack!"
Each of the players may make sounds only if the instructor points at
him/her. If
the player hesitates too long, he/she is out of the game. The game is
over when
there is only one player left
9.
Bear in a Pit
Circle is
formed, players
joining hands. Player 'It" in
center of circle attempts to climb over or under clasped hands of those
forming
circle.
10.
Bow Wow
One player
is "It"
and all the others stand in a circle, about an arm's length apart.
"It" runs around the outside of the circle, taps one of the players,
and keeps running. The tapped player runs around the outside of the
circle, in
the opposite direction from "It."
When "It" and the tapped player meet each other running, they must
get down on all fours and bark, "Bow Wow," three times. Then they
each must get up quickly and continue running around the circle in the
same
direction as before. The first one to reach the empty space in the
circle gets
the place. The one left out becomes "It" in the next round.
