Moogie goes to Balloon Manor
I was very excited to be part of the construction crew for Balloon Manor,
perhaps the most ambitious balloon sculpture ever!
Imagine a ten-room walk through haunted house made entirely out of balloons and only balloons. About 130 THOUSAND of them!
The crew of over 50 balloon artists from all over the world began construction on Sunday October 15 and were ready for the grand opening on Friday October 29.
We worked very hard on this project, the days were often 12 -16 hours or longer.
This was the second Balloon Manor. The first took place in 2004 and raised $34.000 for the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY.
Sunday-
Some of us arrived on Sunday for Monday start but we couldn't wait so we spent part of Sunday making walls.
Monday-
My morning class was with Troy. We made various pillars and columns to go throughout the manor.  I designed the snake heads on the second one.

After lunch, I had class with Don. We learned various ways to make monster heads. Here are some of the monsters I made with techniques from Don's class.

We also made walls.

Tuesday-
The morning class was with Connie. We learned the weaving technique for the trellis. We also made the green agate columns that would form the hedge maze.

In the afternoon, I had Tawney's class. We made chairs for the Beast-ro (bistro).
Here's one of the chairs I made.

We also made walls.

Wednesday-
The day was a blur. Didn't make it to either class but I did spend the day making monsters. Like this delightful cycloptic lass. While many of her charms are not obvious, she obviously has a brain...in a jar on her head.

Also made some evil vegetables for Todd.

We also made walls.

Thursday-
The morning found me in Ralph's class where I made a couple of skeletons.

Here's a finished pair in the Crystal Ballroom.

In the afternoon, I helped Brian with things for the Dead & Breakfast.
Made the hand that served as a bookend.

Made some spider to creep up the walls.

I had so much fun making this monster to go in the shower. I just love all the soap bubbles.

We also made walls.
